NICE TO MEET YOU!
I’m Deema.
Deema — an Arabic name meaning “raincloud.”
A few months ago, I asked my mother why she chose to name me "Deema". She replied, “because rainy clouds persevere even when everyone wants them to just stop.” Of course, this was said in Arabic—but the meaning remains just as powerful. Since that conversation, I have felt a strong attachment to my name and want to live up to the meaning of it. I want to be like a rainy cloud.
Throughout college, I tried to pursue a career in blogging which helped develop my social media and marketing skills. Don’t get me wrong though—this was not nearly my first experience since I had been treating Instagram as my personal blog since I was a sophomore in high school. As time went on, I became the “social media master” to my friends and family, and would constantly write their captions, edit their photos, and decide which photos were Instagram-worthy. Eventually, local businesses would ask me if I could help them with their posts and social media strategy. I was managing five different accounts at one point before I even knew that “account management” and “content creation” was an actual career path and something a lot of businesses needed assistance with.
I landed an internship towards the end of my senior year of college and that’s when the lightbulb went off in my head. I was hired as a Marketing Assistant and my job was to literally just market the entrepreneurship program at the Graduate Business school at my school. I had complete creative freedom and very little guidance—and that was when I realized my skills were stronger than I originally thought. I managed all of their social media accounts, private Facebook groups, blog posts, emails, YouTube, advertising, and traditional marketing. My love for marketing, social media, and content creation grew tremendously—all while learning from entrepreneurs from around the world because of the program. That’s how I got to where I am today.
My intention and goal is to assist business owners while they do what they do best—run a business. Marketing is the most important aspect of a business and the most tedious and difficult to learn. I have the utmost respect for entrepreneurs and business owners and want to make their lives easier by letting them do what they love, while I do what I love!
